Tintoretto, “Last Supper”, oil on canvas, Venice, Italy, 1594

Imitationalism
This palpable piece of art by the prodigious Tintoretto of the “Last Supper” is pure beauty.  Besides the point that it shows the mystical angles in the corners it looks pretty realistic.  With the lamps full of fire; the people, animals (dog’s), and Jesus have the texture, movement, and life of real people like the person writing this page.   The depth in this painting is amazing; it shows the main table with the angels, Jesus his people in the foreground and the other, less important people in the background, as realistic as you can get. All of this put together just shows how a supper would look in our regular day life.

Formalism
This painting done by Tintoretto “Last Supper” in 1594 has a lot of principals and or elements of design.  There is depth, at the front/foreground it shows Jesus with all of his disciples and some animals with angels in the lamps with a darkness in the background witch also shows contrast or a variety in shades and colours by making the area near the lamps brighter and the areas farther in the room from this perspective darker and a lot more shade. It shows a lot of texture by putting more details into the hair and tones on the faces with more detailed contour lines as well.  Theres lots of emphasis on Jesus because he’s JESUS!!

EMOTIONALISM:
When i look at this piece of art it makes me remember all of the stories that my family told me about jesus and what he did for us. How i went to church and did prayers and songs and reading the bible. It has a lot of emphasis on the content in this painting by mainly focusing on the angels, the darkness in the background and jesus himself. This piece of art makes me feel peaceful and sad at the same time, it makes me feel that way because they are all peaceful eating together like a big family but then someone betrays him and he dies. The emotion in this painting though is just peace and harmony because they have no worries with the son of god with them, this is being portrayed by everyone just drinking and having a good time with each other and the animals as long as they can make it last.
