Final stop motion project

In my group we accomplished on making an amazing stop motion video.   The point of this video was to  show loyalty somehow,  we made a group of fans cheering at a game but then another group of fans from the opposite team come into the picture, start cheering and they win the game.  There was a confrontation between the two teams but then resolved and both groups of fans cheered together.

In this painting what i find interesting is all the multiple colours and different birds whish i did not notice at first. i find it very cool how they were able to put all of these birds so closely together to make what looked like just a swirl of colours.

In this painting i find the white streaks contrasting against the dark background really cool, i'm guessing they used the "dry brush" method to make this possible. it makes this painting look something like "warp speed" in star trek or star wars.

My four principals of Animation

Squash and Stretch is meant for making the illusion of weight and volume to a character as it moves. The object for example a ball would look like there is weight because it go's into its self when it hits the wall or solid object then  go back to its original form as it leaves the wall.
Anticipation is meant to prepare the viewers for a major or little movement that is about to occur.  Such as preparing to run, jump or change they're facial features.
Staging is a pose or action that clearly communicates to the audience the mood, attitude, reaction or idea of the character using long, medium, or close up shots.
Straight Ahead and Pose to Pose Animation is meant for straight head on animation that starts "at the first drawing and works drawing to drawing to the end of a scene".

stop motion videos

GULP
I learned how much antagonizing work goes into this ridiculously amazing stop motion  film.  Such as spending multiple days/many many hours going frame by frame to get such a short video.  Also they pent 17 hrs taking pictures to make a 20 second video.   Then at the beginning I thought it was a toy boat but turns out it was a life size boat with a real person inside with large waves and lots and lots of sand maneuvering.  In total this video/process is amazing.
DOT
What I found interesting about this one was that they took a microscope lens and attached it to a nokia n8 then printed their girl/puppet in 3D which is 9mm tall! But different positions for the whole video.  They got to 1000 frames and they were just half way through.   They were able to make 4 seconds a day, 4 seconds a day and the video is 1:38 seconds long.   Wow, just wow.

Wolf and Pig
This video was very cool. They made the stop motion by using all of they’re pictures and overlapping them on different surfaces to make it look like the pictures are moving throughout the room.  It took a lot of pictures and looked very cool with the story based on the wolf wanting the pig.

"The Dark Knight"

Simon's Chess Piece.

My name is Simon, I am going to explain to you my choices in creating my chess piece drawing, enjoy.
In relation to how realistic my chess piece is drawn with proportion and value.  I used my pencil to measure where every certain part would be compared to the real thing.   I also used certain parts from the chess piece to make my life easier, I did that by putting one piece at a certain spot in relation to other parts of the chess piece.

I created pattern by putting the checkerboard design from the chess board on, but also I put solid black lines that go all around the paper.  I put rhythm in the checkerboard by not just having black, white, black, white but a diagonal b&w design to it.  Also I put movement in by making the b&w squares and the big solid black lines go towards the chess piece which makes your eyes travel towards the main focal point in the art.

I used value by making the solid black lines with a HB then 2B then a 6B pencil to make it as solid as possible and a thick black. I made the checkerboard with as white as possible squares and the black ones wih only a Hb, then a 2B pencil because I didn’t want a dark as much as the lines, just a hint lighter.  In the chess piece itself I made the darkest darks in the piece as dark as possible and the lightest lights as light as possible making it that way there are no solid lines in the piece just shades that make it look like there is lines.

I chose my composition by putting it in the center left of the page.  I did this because instead of putting lots of small chess pieces scattered around, I put one large one to the left of the center that way it makes the chess piece look like its looking into a farther distance than just the page it is on itself.

I made it the focal point by making it large and by making the lines and shapes lead towards it.  I did this because the chess piece is the focal point in the art piece not anything else, yes the lines look cool but there not that important.
